Bad breath (Halitosis) is commonly caused by a sulphur-producing bacteria in your tongue or throat. About 2.4% of all Australian adults have bad breath. It is important to note that bad breath is not contagious.

What are the causes of bad breath?
The main causes of bad breath are poor oral hygiene, periodontal disease, dry mouth caused by medicines, alcohol, your general health or stress and smoking.

Other conditions that may causes bad breath are acide and bile reflux, chronic sinusitis, kidney failure, metabolic dysfunctions and some foods such as onion, garlic and cauliflower.
